Bermagui Forest Tour

Saturday 25th June at 2pm meet at Wills Road. Forests NSW are again planning to log the forest right on the doorstep of Bermagui. This forest is home to many threatened and endangered species like the Koala, Swift Parrot and Yellow-bellied Glider.

Come on a guided tour of the area that was logged in 2008-09 and see that a forest is more than just trees to log. See the degradation that has occurred and then visit the area that is soon to be logged. Hear about real forest ecology, not the PR spin that you get from Forests NSW.

Natural Forest - Australia's Wilderness Coast

A photographic exhibiton which will open in the Bermagui Community Centre on Thursday June 9, 2011 at 6pm by Andrew Sayers AO and include a special musical performance for the forests by Geoffry Badger and the Forest Choir. It will run through until Monday June 13. The show will then travel to Canberra, Sydney, Canberra and Bodalla, NSW; later to Victoria with the prospect of an overseas show.

COPS AND LOGGERS

Fancy Dress Party, 20th November, Saturday, Sydney

It will be a light hearted evening of fun and music led by the Skat Kats who will keep us dancing all night. Also appearing are singer/guitarist Dean Carroll (Earthworker), the amazing Ecopella Choir and comedians the Shining Witts. Lots of prizes for costumes (yes, it's a fancy dress party!) and eco trivia fun. You can buy inexpensive but yummy food at the party as well as drinks.

More info: Tanja forest is scheduled for logging in a few weeks time and it has been chosen as the venue to highlight the role that native forests could play in reducing Australia's greenhouse gas emissions. Carpooling recommended. There is parking available along the main road and at the entrance to Goat's Knob Rd and the Nelson Beach Rd (opposite). Bring your banners, placards and good walking shoes. FORUM:

INVITATION to a Climate Action Forum Eurobodalla. 21.11.09 2.00 pm -5.00 pm Moruya High School. Keith Hughes, Convenor of SERCA will be speaking, and other guests will talk about the forests' role being overlooked in reducing carbon emissions including Prof Hamilton ANU and Dr John Kaye. There will be a 45 minute panel discussion so bring your questions along for the panel to answer.

A forest picnic is planned for Sunday 30 August 09 12 noon to 4pm. BBQ BYO food and drinks. There will be music, local honey for sale, raffles and speakers. This is a children friendly event. To get there, follow the picnic signs to the bike path parking area and join in the celebration of the beauty and importance to us of our Bermagui forest, the northern gateway to Bermagui and to Australia’s Coastal Wilderness.
